Top 10 Breweries and Distilleries Companies in India: There is a difference between a brewery and a distillery. A brewery is a factory where beer is produced. In a distillery, the distillation of alcoholic spirits takes place. Commercially, the brewing of beer is more than 4,500 years old – with traces of breweries being found in Mesopotamia, Egypt, etc. Around the 11th century, larger breweries were established that began producing beer on a much larger scale.
A distillery, on the other hand, takes raw material bases (cane for rum, grapes for brandy, grains for whiskey, etc.) and makes them ready for fermentation.
